Unicorn Popcorn & Pretzels
Unicorn Popcorn - or Candied Popcorn is really easy to make and so fun to kick up any party. For this DIY I was hosting my daughters Unicorn themed birthday party and used Pink, Purple and Yellow. BUT, for holidays or other themed parties, use alternative colors to make your popcorn really Pop! (I plan on doing halloween, Christmas and Minecraft popcorn in the coming months!)
Here is what you will need:
- 2 bags of popcorn (Ive tried a few different brands, but the Orville Naturals is by far the best)
- 2-3 colors of Candy Melts (For this I used Pink, Purple, Yellow
- Cookie sheet
Pop two bags of popcorn and spread them out on a cookie tray lined with wax paper. You don't need wax paper but it makes it easier to clean up once the candy is hard.
Add a handful of candy melts to a cake frosting piping bag (DO NOT USE THE WILTON CANDY MELT SQEEZE BOTTLES!!)
Place the bag in a microwave safe container, cook on 50% power in 1 minute increments, taking out and mixing or squeezing each time, until completely melted. The bowl will be hot!
Once the candy is melted take it to the popcorn and drizzle over all the popcorn. Do one color at a time.
The other one I did is Pretzel Sticks. I did these at the same time to cut down on work. Just grab a bag of Pretzel Dipping sticks and lay them out.
In a bowl, melt a handful of candy melts ( I used white) in the microwave on 50% power in 1 minute increments, stirring each time, until melted! Them dip each pretzel stick half way into the candy melt. Let this fully harden (roughly 20 minutes).
Then just like the popcorn, drizzle the colors across the pretzels and let it dry.
