Homemade General Tso's Chicken
General Tso Chicken
This is one of my favorite things to order when I get Chinese takeout! Here is a simple recipe to enjoy at home!
Ingredients
Instructions
- In a large bowl add 1/2-1 cup of corn starch, dip the chicken into the corn starch in batches, make sure each piece is fully coated but tap off excess.
- In another bowl combine the General Tso's Sauce ingredients; water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
- In a large wok or skillet, add olive oil and cook chicken in small batches to make sure they get completely cooked. Remove chicken as it is cooked and set aside.
- Once the chicken has been completely cooked, in the same pan add olive oil, garlic, ginger and red chili peppers (if desired). Cook for about 1 minute on medium heat or until translucent and fragrant.
- Add the General Tso's sauce mixture to the pan and let it simmer until the mixture thickens, about 1 minute. Add the chicken, toss to coat and enjoy!
